AI/ML Engineer

Company: SketchDeck.AI

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA or Toronto, CAN)

Type: Full-Time

About SketchDeck.AI

Construction is one of the world’s biggest, slowest-to-change industries, and we’re transforming it. At SketchDeck.AI, we build AI-powered tools that eliminate complexity, accelerate workflows, and help teams deliver at a level the industry has never seen before. Our vision is a built environment elevated by technology: more efficient, more accurate, and more human.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a AI/ML Engineer to build the computer vision models that power SketchDeck's core products. You’ll work end-to-end: designing training pipelines, improving model performance, deploying models to production, and shaping how AI shows up in the product. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants real ownership, cares about practical impact, and enjoys turning raw data into product-ready intelligence used by thousands of construction professionals.

You’ll join a tight, high-performing team where your work becomes visible immediately and directly improves customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build High-Performance Vision Models

    • Develop and train segmentation, detection, and classification models using PyTorch.

    • Create data pipelines for labeling, preprocessing, augmentation, and experimentation.

    • Improve model accuracy, precision, and robustness using advanced optimization and evaluation techniques.

  • Deploy & Maintain Production ML Systems

    • Design inference pipelines for real-time and batch workloads in Python.

    • Deploy models to production environments using Docker, AWS services, and model-serving frameworks.

    • Monitor performance using diagnostics, metrics, and visualization tools to ensure reliability.

  • Advanced Computer Vision Capabilities

    • Apply classical image processing (OpenCV) alongside deep learning for robust results.

    • Build evaluation tooling, visual debuggers, and interpretable model diagnostics.

    • Explore techniques like OCR, 3D transformations, and geometric reasoning as needed for product accuracy.

  • Collaborate Across Engineering & Product

    • Work closely with backend engineers to integrate inference endpoints into the platform.

    • Partner with product teams to define requirements, ensure quality, and translate customer workflows into technical solutions.

    • Contribute to planning, architecture discussions, and system improvements.

Skills & Experience

  • Deep Learning & Computer Vision: Strong experience building, training, and evaluating CV models (CNNs, segmentation, detection) using PyTorch.

  • Computer Vision Foundations: Solid background in image processing (OpenCV), data annotation, augmentation, and visual diagnostics.

  • Mathematical Strength: Strong grounding in linear algebra, probability, optimization, and 3D transformations.

  • Production ML: Experience deploying CV models to production, working with cloud environments, containers, and model-serving workflows.

  • Python & Data Workflows: Proficiency in Python and modern ML tooling; able to write clean, efficient training and inference pipelines.

Our Values

  • Focus on What Matters. Prioritize high-impact actions aligned with our mission and OKRs.

  • Own the Outcomes. Embrace single-threaded ownership and drive meaningful outcomes by taking full responsibility for your actions and contributions.

  • Be Bold, Iterate Fast. Take calculated risks and rapidly experiment to learn and innovate.

  • Earn Trust. Empower Others. Seek to raise your team's average by fostering honesty, integrity, and collaboration while ensuring world-class quality.
